“I’d had a wee project in my mind for some time, to design and make a stand to house an old Belfast sink. An acquaintance pointed me towards WP Hardwood, so I approached Paul armed with a simple sketch and only a vague idea of what needed. He was so helpful, and knowledgeable. He made suggestions and showed me some examples.
We had a look at his stock and settled on some elm which matched exactly what I had envisaged. The wood still required kiln drying, so after a couple of weeks when out of the kiln, he machined the various components for me (top, shelf and legs) to enable me to get started. Furthermore, he was happy to help throughout project, offering to use his bandsaw to make a cut which would have been impossible for me for the sink insert. I’m delighted, as a novice wood worker, with my finished piece. It looks great in situ, just like I imagined and has received several compliments.
